WDIM Reflection
Individual reflection for the IT project will consist of a student analysis of his or her performance during the project process, relating to the NWP Leadership Skills (LS). The Leadership Skills Rubric under Benchmark 7: Critical Reflection will be used as a reference piece during the writing process.
1) Create a Google Doc titled "WDIM Reflection - Your Name"
2) In groups of 2-3, students will brainstorm by discussing and writing down what they believe they did best in the project, and what they thought they could have improved.
* You will only have a short period to brainstorm, so these thoughts should not be full sentences, but keywords that can be a helpful reference point later in the activity.
3) As a class students will view the Leadership Skills Rubric under Benchmark 7: Critical Reflection and read over and discuss any confusing or unknown words or phrases that appear in each LS.
4) Students will silently re-read the LS and their brainstorm, choosing TWO LS that they see as their strengths and TWO LS that they see as areas to improve. Students must connect the examples they wrote in their brainstorm to specific language that describes the skill in the Leadership Skills Rubric (Not "Effective Communication", but what the description says, like being "emotionally intelligent"). Students will then create a brief outline of their reflection essay in bullet point format with:
* An introductory paragraph (Don't forget your thesis! What are you trying to prove?)
* A paragraph on their strengths (use specific LS language and examples)
* A paragraph on their areas to improve (use specific LS language and examples)
* And a concluding paragraph (A good place to mention what your strengths and weaknesses made you realize or discover)
4) Students will use their outline to format their 1-2 page reflection.
* This will be a timed writing, and if not completed within the block, can be finished for homework or in the 8-9am academic support hour.
